Stephen Burrows: Portrait of an Artist

A profile of unsung sculptor Stephen Burrows, who created the unique steel creatures that decorate four different islands of The Bahamas: Exuma, San Salvador, Abaco and Nassau. Mr. Burrows donated his art to the country, the only payment he received was in the form of scholarships for Bahamian students. Although retired from BEC, the artist hasn’t given up his dreams of creating one more final, giant sculpture.

Marching for Justice

In the summer of 2010 a camera followed several pro-hanging marches and interviewed some of the marchers about why they were marching and what thy hoped to accomplish.  The resulting video is intended to start a conversation about what can be done about rising crime rates.

Lionfish Invasion, Part 1

What is a Bahamian solution to a dangerous invasive species? Eat ’em.

Join us for Part 1 of this documentary, which uses underwater footage to explore what we know about these non native invaders. Originally from the Indo-Pacific region of the world, lionfish are now a major threat to native juvenile fishes and invertebrates.  They are invading Bahamian reefs at a dangerous rate, threatening the delicate balance of the marine ecosystem.

Part 2 further explores on-going lionfish research.  Part 3 shows how to catch, clean and cook lionfish.
